is
A rule in Subject-Verb Agreement to always remember:
Phrases like as well as, together with, and along with does NOT compound the subject or change it to another form (singular/plural).
Example:
Wrong - The students, along with their adviser, is having fun at the field trip.
Correct - The students, along with their adviser, are having fun at the field trip.
In this example we should remember that the adviser (which is introduced by the phrase along with) will not modify if the verb is singular or plural. Since the phrase, "The students" is the earlier word/phrase, it will be the one modifying or determining if the verb is singular or plural.
