what endocrine gland is involved in dwarfism

Sagot :

The pituitary gland is the gland involved in dwarfism. It is a major endocrine gland, about the size of a pea. The gland is a small membrane attached to the base of the brain. This gland controls growth and development in individuals. When the pituitary gland fails to produce enough hormones for growth and development, the result is a disease called, Pituitary Dwarfism, also known as growth hormone deficiency. If a child has a growth hormone deficiency, his/her growth pattern is slow compared to his peers and his/her stature is below average height.
