A wave is a means of energy transport without the transport of matter. It is also described as a disruption that travels through a medium, transporting energy from source to another location without transporting matter. There two types of waves namely transverse waves and longitudinal waves. Transverse waves are the type of wave move perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the wave. Meanwhile, longitudinal waves are waves produced wherein the displacement of the medium is parallel to the direction of propagation of the wave.

Types of Waves in Physics
Different types of waves have a diverse set of characteristics. Based on the orientation of particle motion and direction of energy, there are three classifications:
- A mechanical wave is a wave that occurs when there is an oscillation of matter and the transfer of energy happens through a medium.
- Electromagnetic waves are created by a blend of electric and magnetic fields.
- Matter waves are photons are the particles of light made of atoms, and atoms are made protons, neutrons, and electrons.
