The
story is about Fyokla, an orphan who roamed the village to meet Terenty, a
cobbler that acts as their uncle, then they headed towards the woods, finding
Danilka who had his hand stuck to a hole in the tree in attempt to retrieve a
cuckoo egg. By the time the assisted Danilka in freeing his hand, a storm
approached. This led the three to make refuge in a manor. Amidst the storm, the
two orphans learned a bit more about life and nature. The next day, the storm
is gone and they returned to the village with new experience and knowledge.
