There are four more girls than boys in Ms. Raub's class of 28 students. What is the ratio of number of girls to the number of boys in her class?

Sagot :

The answer is:  4:3

Let the number of boys be x

The number of girls be x + 4
The total number of students = 28

Add:

x + x + 4 = 28
2x + 4 = 28
2x = 28 - 4
2x = 24

2x/2 = 24/2
x = 12

The number of girls (12 + 4) is 16.
The number of boy is 12.

The ratio of girls to boys:
 16:12  or  in lowest term,   4:3
