What is the formula of indirect proportion

Sagot :

formula:mean1xmean2 divided by extreme2
example:
_:20=10:40
solution:
40N=20x10
40N=200
200 divided by 40=5
40N divided by 40=1
so its like a fraction 5/1 or basically 5
If y is indirectly or inversely proportional to x, with k as the constant of proportionality, then:

y = k
      x

The relation is also written as: [tex]y \alpha x ^{-1} [/tex]

Indirect/Inverse proportion means that as the first set of quantity in the relation increases, the corresponding quantity from the second set decreases.

Examples:
1)  As the speed (s) increases, the time (t) to reach a destination decreases.
      s = k/t

2)  As the number of workers (w)to finish a certain job increases, the time (t) (hours, days, etc.) to finish the same job decreases.
      w = k/t
