Ratio
C. Reduce the following ratios to lowest term.
1. 10:5
- 2:1
[tex]10 ÷ 5 = 2\\ 5 ÷ 5 = 1[/tex]
— By dividing both terms by the GCF = 5, the ratio 10:5 can be reduced to its simplest form.
2. 3:5
— By dividing both terms by the GCF = 1 the ratio 3:5 cannot be further to simplified.
3. 20:4
- 5:1
— By dividing both terms by the GCF = 4, the ratio 20:4 can be reduced to its simplest form.
[tex]20 ÷ 4 = 5 \\ 4 ÷ 4 = 1[/tex]
4. 15:30
- 1:2
— By dividing both terms by the GCF = 15, the ratio 15:30 can be reduced to its simplest form.
[tex]15 ÷ 15 = 1 \\ 30 ÷ 15 = 2[/tex]
5. 6:8
- 3:4
— By dividing both terms by the GCF = 2, the ratio 6:8 can be reduced to its simplest form.
6 ÷ 2 = 3
8 ÷ 2 = 4
