1. How many nurses will take charge of 100 patients if 50 nurses handle 200 patients?
Solution :
By using ratio and proportion we can get the answer.
Let n as a number of nurses we look for
n:100=50:200 read as N is to 100 patients as 50 nurses is to 200 patients
n/100 = 50/200 or we can read it as a quotient of n and 100 equals to quotient of 50 and 200
200n=5000 (multiply 200 and n) (multiply 100 and 50)
200n/200=5000/200 divide both sides by 200 to remain n
n=25
Therefore 25 nurses are needed to take charge of 100 patients
