what is the climax of the taximans story

Sagot :

Hello there!

The Taxi Man's Story was written by Catherine Lim.

The story centers around the taxi man who holds a conversation with his client, a lady which he refers to only as "Madam". He mainly criticizes Singaporean teenage girls during the conversation, talking about how they sell their bodies to sex tourists for extra cash, expressing his distaste for what they do.

The climax of the story is when he starts talking about his own daughter, Lay Choo; at first, he is full of praises for her, lauding her for her excellent performance at school and bragging a little about her. But then it turns out that the taxi man caught his daughter in the act, seemingly selling her body as well, waiting for customers at a coffee-house. When he catches her again, he becomes so filled with rage that he rushes out, beats her, drags her back to his taxi and takes her home, where he continues to beat her so much that his wife and neighbours had to step in, lest he kill her. From then on he becomes very strict about her activities.

I hope this helps you!
