Well most of the time, occurrences such as rock formation happens in places near volcanoes, bodies of water and/or on (basically) Earth's surface. In my case, such places are nowhere near so my answer to this question is that the said occurrence rock formation, specifically sedimentary rocks, can be observed just anywhere in my locality since these rocks are usually product of weathering, erosion, and exposure to external environmental forces. I can't say the same for metamorphic rocks and igneous rocks since I haven't dug deeper research in our place.
