Solving Systems of Linear Equations in two Variables- by Graphing

x+y=8

x-y= -4

Sagot :

Re-write the equation to slope-intercept form:
   x + y = 8
   y = -x + 8     slope = -1/1      y - intercept = 8

To plot:
1.   Put a dot on 8 at y axis.
2.  From that point, slide your pencil down by one unit, then slide one unit to the right.      Stop at that point.  Put a dot.
3.  Connect the dots.  Extend the line  passing through the dots (two points), then draw the arrow on both ends.
4.  Write the equation x + y - 8 = 0  near the end of the line (kahit aling end ng line)

x - y = -4
-y = -x -4
y = x + 4     slope = 1/1       y-intercept = 4

To plot:
1. Put a dot on 4 at y-axis
2.  From that point, slide your pencil up by one unit, the slide one unit to the right.  Stop at that point.  Put a dot.
3.  Connect the dots.  Extend the line passing through the dots (two points), then draw arrow on both ends.
4.  Write the equation x - y - 4 = 0 near the end of the line.

Make sure that you write y at the top end of y-axis, and x at the right end of x-axis
