Organ System

There are twelve main systems of our body. Here are the list of the systems and definition as well.  

Circulatory System – also called as cardiovascular system

  • This is an organ system that allows blood to circulate and a transporter of nutrients such as amino acids and electrolytes. It also allows oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones and blood cells to and from the cells in our body. These provides our body nourishment and help fighting different diseases, stabilizes temperature and potential hydrogen.
  • The circulatory system includes the lymphatic system which circulates lymph. Lymph is a colorless fluid that contains white blood cells that is being carried by the lymphatic vessels directionally towards the heart.
  • Components of this system are: heart, blood and blood vessels

Digestive System and Excretory System

  • The digestive and excretory system is working hand in hand with the circulatory system as the circulatory system gets the absorbed nutrients distributed through out our body. The digestive system normally collects and removes undigested solid and the excretory system serves as a filter for compounds from the blood stream and it collects them through urine.  
  • Organs of the excretory system would be the following: Kidneys, Large Intestine, Liver, Skin and Lungs.
  • Parts of the digestive system would be: Salivary glands, Pharynx, Esophagus, Stomach, Small Intestine, Large Intestine, Rectum

Endocrine System

  • This system mainly is responsible for producing hormones that regulates metabolism, tissue function, growth and development, sleep and mood.  It is called as the messenger of our body.

Integumentary system and Exocrine System

  • This is a protector of our body as it comprises the skin. The skin protects the body from different kinds of damage, mainly loss of water or any outside damages. The integumentary system includes:
  1. Hair
  2. Skin
  3. Nails
  4. Glands
  5. Nerves
  • Main function is to retain fluids of our body, protects our body from diseases, eliminates waste products and helps regulating our body temperature.
  • For the exocrine system these are glands that includes sweat, salivary, mammary, ceruminous, lacrimal, sebaceous, and mucous. These are the glands that provide our body system to secrete substances out and external to the body.

Immune system and Lymphatic System

  • This is the defender of our body against bacteria or virus.

Muscular System

  • The main function of the muscular system involves movement. It helps to stabilize our joints, maintains our posture and can generate heat during activity. Voluntary movements are being controlled by our skeletal muscles and involuntary movements are being controlled by smooth muscles.

Nervous System

  • This is where our brain, spinal cord and our sensory organs belong. Its main responsibility is to control our body and serves as a communication among the parts of our body.

Renal System and Urinary System

  • This is the system where our kidneys filter blood and produces urine.

Reproductive System

  • It is also called as our genital system. The sex organs are required to be able to produce an offspring.

Respiratory System

  • This is where our lungs belong. As the respiratory system is responsible for bringing air into and out of our lungs to be able to absorb oxygen and removes carbon dioxide.

Skeletal System

  • Mainly consist of our bones that helps maintain the structure of our body and all the organs.

Hematopoietic System

  • This creates our cells to be able to travel in our blood.
