The story about Arachne told us that she became a spider that is meant to spin and weave for the rest of her entire life as a punishment for being overly-proud and boastful of her skills in weaving and spinning. She was punished by the Goddess of crafts and wisdom, Athena because of her arrogance to the extent of challenging and even underestimating the skills of the Goddess by challenging her into a contest that is intended to know who is better between the two of them when it comes to spinning.
