The use of poetic justice as a literary device in the story of Arachne is effective in my opinion. The poetic justice presented that only virtues garner rewards while vices naturally gets punishment. The poetic justice used in the story provides emphasis on the main moral lesson to be learned and to be imparted to the readers in order not to commit the same mistake and misfortune that the character of story experienced. This helps strengthen the reality effect of the story.
