What are the different kind of pure substances

Sagot :

Elements- (made of only one kind of an atom) such as Carbon, oxygen, nitroge, sulfur, iron, potassium,etc...
these are located on the periodic table

compunds- made from chemical combinations of 2 or more elements. An example would be Sodium Chloride, NaCl
composed of Sodium and Chlorine to make our famous known Tablesalt.
There are two distinct types of pure substances. Elements are one of the substances and include everything on the periodic table (hydrogen (H), mercury (Hg), etc.), and compounds are the other one which include water (H2O) and table salt (NaCl). Elements are made up of one type of atom and compounds are two or more elements chemically bonded.
