There are 2 types of mixture and you can classify them by looking into their appearances. These types are the homogeneous mixture and heterogeneous mixture.
Homogeneous Mixture
Type of mixture where the combined compounds are uniformly distributed all throughout the mixture.
When you observe the appearance of this mixture, you can see only one phase and you cannot distinguish the original appearance of the combined compounds. Homogeneous mixture is also called solution.

Heterogeneous Mixture
This type of mixture is the opposite of homogeneous mixture; the combined compounds are not uniformly distributed all throughout. Mostly, its components have localized regions with different properties.
By observing the appearance of this mixture, you can distinguish which is which or in other words, you can identify the different compounds that are mixed.
