Because Apart from the national traditions of classification, journalism usually do not meet the standards for being considered as a science. This does not mean that journalists are not precise or competent. This means only that the aim of the journalist's work is not to validate theories on empirical data. They can inform you, they can argue, they can be cultural critique but they are not interested in the theoretical aspect of inquiry. The aim of social sciences is to provide theoretical tools for the analysis of social phenomenona. The aim of journalism is to comment on the news in order to inform and make people discuss. They are inherently different.
