Why is Polaris a useful star?

Sagot :

Polaris is the Northern Star. It is known for staying almost exactly in the same place, even as the night goes by. This is because it is nearly in the north celestial pole; the point where almost the entire celestial sky turns. Navigators, whether they be fishermen or travelers, use this star to locate the North. Facing Polaris then spreading their arms out at their side helps them locate the other three cardinal directions;East to the right, West to the left, and South at their backs. Polaris guides these people should they find themselves lost without means of navigation.
