If its only linear equation
the domain is {x/x is an element of real numbers}
and the range is {y/y is an element of real numbers}
because x and y have infinite values.
While if its quadratic equations:
the domain is {x/x is an element of real numbers}
and the range is {y/y is an element of real numbers y>(4ac+b²)/2}
if the a is negative {y/y is an element of real numbers, y<(4ac+b²)/2}
because y has specific values to be satisfying x and x has a wide range of values
