The creation of colonies by France and Britain (as victors of World War 1, the British and the French, as per suggestion of the Treaty of Versailles, redrawn the national borders of countries, which in this case was the Middle East, since Middle East was once under the flag of the Ottoman Empire) on the Middle East which was a few years later became new countries.
5. The weakening of the Russian Empire and soon the rise of the Soviet Union paved the way for a change of the status quo in the Middle East, which became apparent during World War 2 and the Cold War.
