Ionic bond is the bond that happens between a metal and a nonmetal. The reason is that metals has the tendency to give electrons but they cannot accept electrons. On the other hand, nonmetals has the ability to accept electrons but they cannot give electrons. After an Ionic bond, a metal has been deducted an electron forming a positive ion while nonmetal will be having an additional electron forming a negative ion.
